Yesterday, I pilloried the pointless, self-destructive practice of drafting multiple versions of your first squad (starting weeks before the season even kicks off, when you just have no idea what opening day lineups are going to be at any club!).
There is, however, one useful thing you can sometimes glean from watching other people doing this. (Apart from taking encouragement that you're almost certainly going to do better this season than all of these poor fools!)
Because most of these folks are complete IDIOTS (not all of them; some are just sorely misguided, in having allowed themselves to fall into this bad habit.,... and then having somehow persuaded themselves that it is a good thing), there is a strange kind of collective unwisdom in their decisions - and thus, you can fairly reasonably assume that anyone a lot of them are choosing is probably A BAD SELECTION. (Any slightly more improbable, left-field sort of pick, anyway, especially at the budget end. Wirtz is obviously a strong prospect; De Cuyper isn't.)
I generally recommend not looking at what anyone else is doing - especially in pre-season! But if you do sneak an occasional peek at some of the FPL forums, and see them logjammed with people eagerly sharing these daft 'provisional squads', keep an eye out for the very common picks: they're probably best avoided.
